Genre Editing

Here are two trailers which I have found, the first is of Uncle Buck a comedy from the 1980's, edited to appear as a horror

and the other is The Shining, a horror from the 1980's also, but edited to look like a family film

I wanted to blog these two re-edited trailers as I found it was so interesting to see how just editing can change the entire feeling and tone of these films to opposite genres, and expecially in the trailer for the family version of 'The Shining' the
power the music has, as it is the music and voice over which make it believable as a
family film. By looking at this it has showed me how it isn't just about the shots we get
for our trailer, but also how we edit it, and highlighting how important it is to use all the
conventions of the horror genre
